We’ve all had part-time jobs at one time or another. Have you ever thought about taking all of your interests and turning them into multiple part-time gigs instead of having one mainstream job? Today, I talk about the step you would need to take to make that happen.

Today we’re discussing multiple steams of income, and is that the route you should take? Or, should you put all of your eggs in one basket? I think the answer is different for everyone. So, let’s get into it.
As for me, I’m definitely a multiple streams of income person, although I have put all my eggs in one basket and invested all of my energy into one project before. You know which one you are. It’s a tough question to ask ourselves because sometimes we don’t know until we try one or the other.
Most of us have grown up with the belief that if we get this great job, we’d be set for life. And, we can just put all of our energy into that job, do a really great job and get promoted. Then, we’re off to the races, right? Well, life is not exactly like that for some of us. For some, that is a good path to take, and you’ll know if that’s you. For a lot of us, we get a little antsy-in-the-pantsy when we’re at one job for too long, and we want to explore some other options.
Especially if you are a multi-potentialite. A multi-potentialite is a person who has a lot of different interests, and he/she often struggles to pull them all together because he/she is told to specialize, put all of our eggs in one basket, get this great job and be this great ________(fill in the blank) whatever that is.
What a lot of us multi-potentialites have done is discover this multiple steams of income thing. Now, both my husband and I are multi-potentialites, which makes it a little bit challenging because we both have so many interests and want to be involved in so many different things. We have to reign in those interests just a bit.
What’s a person like “one-of-us” supposed to do especially if we are also a counterculturist? We don’t like to deal with the mainstream idea, and we’re looking for other options.
What I’ve discovered, and a lot of my multi-potentialite friends have discovered, is that there are options for people like us. We can actually harness all of those interests and pull them together to create an amazing life for ourselves.
So here’s how to do it:
1) Figure out what all of your interests are
2) Write them all down
3) Select interests for monetizing
4) Start taking action
5) Figure out how to schedule interests
Start making those life changes that get you closer towards your side-gig. And then, once you’re there, pick one gig and move forward with it. It’s as simple as that.
If you’ve tried this and succeeded (or failed), I would love to hear about it. Please leave a comment or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Now go rock your week!
