Can Thankfulness and Marketing Co-exist?

Well it’s Thanksgiving. A time to be thankful for all that we have and all that we do. Including the opportunity to work. Never take that for granted. I’ve shared my story before about how I came to the Mindi Zone. I’m so thankful for the opportunity Mindi gave me and all that I learn from her each day.

But with this being Thanksgiving and being new to marketing I started to think about the two and how they relate. Can there be such a thing as gratitude marketing? So I did a little research and found that there are several ways gratitude marketing can be accomplished.

I know in there are companies that have had collection issues with receivables and have been able to use gratitude to improve their cash flow. They did this by sending a handwritten thank you to their clients when they received a payment. It showed that they appreciated their clients by going the extra step and taking the time to thank them personally.

I heard of a doctor that gave his female patients a rose when they arrived on time for their appointment. There are a lot of things you can do to show your gratitude to your clients. Here’s a short list:

• Send birthday cards and/or mail a small gift • Have an occasional sale that’s closed to the public – clients only • Drop in on your best customers with a surprise gift or maybe just stop by with donuts • When a client makes an especially large purchase send a gift certificate or provide a discount • Get in the habit of sending a personal card to one client each day • Send not only Christmas cards but Thanksgiving cards and other occasions
